        "content": "<p>Floods hit 1,470 houses<\/p>\n<p>BANDUNG: At least 1,470 houses in five villages at Baleendah<br>\nand Pamengpeuk districts in Bandung regency were inundated in the<br>\nearly hours of Monday following a massive overflow from Citarum<br>\nriver.<\/p>\n<p>Among villages badly submerged in the natural disaster was<br>\nKampung Papak Gede in Andir subdistrict, in which the water level<br>\nreached three meters high.<\/p>\n<p>No casualties were reported in the floods that have<br>\ntemporarily disconnected the route linking Dayeuhkolot and<br>\nBanjaran, about 20 kilometers south of here.<\/p>\n<p>A Pamengpeuk district official Hamid Slamet said the absence<br>\nof torrential rains helped the water subside later in the day.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Since 1989, these areas have been prone to flooding and the<br>\nlocal administration have tried to curb it by digging the Citarum<br>\nriver and handling sedimentation problems.
