The main road at the entrance to the Kamasan tourist village area in\nKlungkung, Bali, has been submerged by flooding. Severe overflow from\ndrainage channels at the entrance to the area has made it difficult for\nmotorists to pass and sparked complaints from local residents,\nespecially traders.<\/p>\n
Observations at the location on Saturday (27\/6\/2026) morning showed\nthat water covering the road surface forced motorcycle and car riders to\nexercise extra caution. The intersection of Jalan Puputan and Nandini,\non the border between Tojan and Kamasan villages, has turned into a\nriver over the past two days.<\/p>\n
This condition is disrupting traffic and the economy of residents who\ndepend on income from the tourism and trade sectors in the craft\nvillage.<\/p>\n
A local trader, Ni Ketut Suartini, complained about the flooding. She\nexplained that the water-covered road access deters customers from\nstopping by. \"The overflow has been happening for a long time. But this\nsevere flooding has lasted for two days. The condition is quite bad.\nCustomers cannot get in,\" Suartini said when met at the location on\nSaturday (27\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n
Suartini explained that the flooding at the entrance to Kamasan was\ntriggered by a classic problem. Waste sent from upstream areas,\ndiscarded carelessly, is washed away and clogs the drainage channels or\ngutters around the main road, preventing water from flowing smoothly and\ncausing it to overflow onto the surface.<\/p>\n
\"The cause is a lot of waste from upstream being thrown into the\nwaterways. As a result, the drainage gutters here are completely blocked\nand the water overflows directly onto the road. There is a huge amount\nof waste,\" she explained.<\/p>\n
Echoing Suartini, another resident, Ketut Resina, revealed that\nmanual handling on the surface is no longer effective. He mentioned that\nofficers from the relevant agencies have frequently come to clean the\nchannels, but the flooding keeps recurring.<\/p>\n
\"Officers have come several times to clean the channels. But because\nthe problem is already quite severe, it still ends up like this. Maybe\nit needs to be completely overhauled,\" Resina said.<\/p>\n
Besides disrupting traffic access and the residents\u2019 economy, Resina\nexplained that the drainage overflow also often causes accidents. The\nstanding water conceals damaged road surfaces underneath, endangering\nroad users.<\/p>\n
\"There have been a few people who fell. There is a pothole there that\nis not visible because it is covered by water. At night, sometimes\nriders fall. Although the injuries are not serious, this condition is\nvery dangerous for residents,\" he explained.<\/p>\n
