The community is urging the local government to undertake comprehensive repairs to resolve the persistent issue.

The main road at the entrance to the Kamasan tourist village area in
Klungkung, Bali, has been submerged by flooding. Severe overflow from
drainage channels at the entrance to the area has made it difficult for
motorists to pass and sparked complaints from local residents,
especially traders.

Observations at the location on Saturday (27/6/2026) morning showed
that water covering the road surface forced motorcycle and car riders to
exercise extra caution. The intersection of Jalan Puputan and Nandini,
on the border between Tojan and Kamasan villages, has turned into a
river over the past two days.

This condition is disrupting traffic and the economy of residents who
depend on income from the tourism and trade sectors in the craft
village.

A local trader, Ni Ketut Suartini, complained about the flooding. She
explained that the water-covered road access deters customers from
stopping by. "The overflow has been happening for a long time. But this
severe flooding has lasted for two days. The condition is quite bad.
Customers cannot get in," Suartini said when met at the location on
Saturday (27/6/2026).

Suartini explained that the flooding at the entrance to Kamasan was
triggered by a classic problem. Waste sent from upstream areas,
discarded carelessly, is washed away and clogs the drainage channels or
gutters around the main road, preventing water from flowing smoothly and
causing it to overflow onto the surface.

"The cause is a lot of waste from upstream being thrown into the
waterways. As a result, the drainage gutters here are completely blocked
and the water overflows directly onto the road. There is a huge amount
of waste," she explained.

Echoing Suartini, another resident, Ketut Resina, revealed that
manual handling on the surface is no longer effective. He mentioned that
officers from the relevant agencies have frequently come to clean the
channels, but the flooding keeps recurring.

"Officers have come several times to clean the channels. But because
the problem is already quite severe, it still ends up like this. Maybe
it needs to be completely overhauled," Resina said.

Besides disrupting traffic access and the residents’ economy, Resina
explained that the drainage overflow also often causes accidents. The
standing water conceals damaged road surfaces underneath, endangering
road users.

"There have been a few people who fell. There is a pothole there that
is not visible because it is covered by water. At night, sometimes
riders fall. Although the injuries are not serious, this condition is
very dangerous for residents," he explained.

Residents deeply regret the flooding conditions in this city tour
area. Suartini, Resina, and other Kamasan residents hope the local
government will immediately intervene and carry out comprehensive
repairs so that community activities can return to being safe and
normal.
",
