        "content": "<p>The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Grobogan Regency,\nCentral Java, has reported that heavy rainfall lashing the area,\ncompounded by water surges from several upstream rivers from Sunday (15\nFebruary) through to the early hours of the following morning, caused\nflooding that affected 9,736 households spread across 45 villages.<\/p>\n<p>Wahyu Tri Darmawanto, Head of Operations at Grobogan BPBD, said on\nTuesday that aside from the high rainfall, the flooding was also\ntriggered by overflowing water due to increased discharge from the\nGlugu, Jajar, Tuntang and Lusi rivers, which could no longer contain the\nvolume and spilled into residential areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHeavy rain fell from Sunday (15 February) evening through to the\nearly hours of Monday (16 February). Besides inundating settlements and\ninfrastructure, the flooding also caused at least one house to sustain\nsevere damage and one house moderate damage in Ngrandah Village, Toroh\nSub-district,\u201d Wahyu said on Tuesday, 17 February 2026.<\/p>\n<p>His agency also recorded a number of embankment breaches, including\nat the Cabean River in Tajemsari Village, Tegowanu Sub-district; the\nJajar Baru River in Krasak and Klampisan hamlets, Mojoagung Village,\nKarangrayung Sub-district; and the Jratun River in Mbaru hamlet,\nKebonagung Village, Tegowanu Sub-district.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Godong Sub-district, flooding was also triggered by a breach in\nthe Tuntang River embankment, with impacts reaching Tinanding Village.\nIn Purwodadi Sub-district, the worst-hit area was Kalongan Urban\nVillage, where 1,180 households were affected. Water levels at the\nPermata Hijau Kalongan housing estate were reported to have reached\napproximately one metre,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in Cingkrong Village, he noted that 2,416 households were\naffected, with water levels ranging between 10 and 50 centimetres.<\/p>\n<p>The flooding also submerged rice paddies across several\nsub-districts, including Tegowanu, Godong and Tawangharjo. In Tinanding\nVillage, Godong Sub-district, approximately 130 hectares of paddy fields\nwith rice crops ready for harvest were reported to be inundated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJoint teams from BPBD, the military, police, volunteers and regional\nleadership coordination forum (Forkopimda) elements carried out\nevacuations of residents at several points, including in Toroh,\nPurwodadi and Godong sub-districts. Distribution of logistical aid and\nemergency equipment has also been channelled to affected areas,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, communal efforts were undertaken to raise embankments\nand clear mud following the embankment breach on the Purwodadi\u2013Semarang\nroad section in Tinanding Village, bordering Demak Regency.<\/p>",
