"summary": "Heavy rainfall in Agam Regency, West Sumatra, has triggered severe flooding, forcing 450 residents to seek shelter with relatives. Approximately 60 people remain trapped by the floodwaters, with joint rescue teams working to evacuate them. The flooding, which has submerged at least 20 homes, is attributed to the overflowing Batang Tumayo River, which has become shallower following a previous flash flood.",
"content": "<p>The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Agam Regency, West\nSumatra, reported that flooding which struck Nagari Sungai Batang,\nTanjung Raya District, on Saturday evening resulted in 450 residents\nbeing displaced and 60 people trapped by the floodwaters. The 450\nresidents have taken refuge in the homes of relatives located in safe\nareas. Those trapped by the strong currents comprise 20 families,\ntotalling 60 individuals. Evacuations were carried out independently by\nthe victims, with some assisted by a joint team from BPBD Agam, the\nNational Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the Indonesian Red Cross\n(PMI), the police, and the military. Meanwhile, in Jorong Labuah, 250\nresidents were displaced after 20 housing units were inundated with\nwater up to 70 centimetres deep. The flooding in the two jorongs\nfollowed high-intensity rainfall that fell from Saturday afternoon into\nthe evening, causing the Batang Tumayo River to overflow and submerge\nhomes along its banks. An official noted this is a recurring flood, as\nthe river has experienced siltation following a flash flood that hit the\narea in late November 2025. No fatalities have been reported, and\nfloodwaters have begun to recede, allowing some residents to return\nhome. Nevertheless, the public is urged to remain vigilant and evacuate\nimmediately if heavy rainfall occurs.<\/p>",
