Flood victim found<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The body of a teenager who was washed away in a
\nflooded West Jakarta waterway on Saturday was found yesterday
\nabout 100 meters from where he reportedly jumped into the small
\nGrogol river.<\/p>\n
The body of 16-year-old Adi Sudian, a primary school dropout,
\nwas found by local residents.<\/p>\n
His uncle, Slamet, drowned trying to rescue his nephew from
\nthe flooded river. Slamet's body was found on Sunday. The river
\nflooded, in Sunday's torrential rains, near their home behind the
\nKompas building complex in Central Jakarta,<\/p>\n
Witness Sandy, 18, said Slamet immediately jumped into the
\nriver after he heard Adi's screams for help.<\/p>\n
\"Knowing his nephew was in a big trouble, Slamet abruptly
\njumped into the river to lend a hand,\" Sandy said.<\/p>\n
Relatives said Adi could not swim but enjoyed playing with
\nfriends in the waterway, particularly during the rainy season
\nwhen the small Grogol river's level rises.<\/p>\n
Sandy said Adi was passing a small bridge on the way to his
\nhouse when he saw three of his friends swimming joyfully in the
\nriver.<\/p>\n
\"When he jumped into the river, he apparently hit the body of
\nhis friend, Sefri,\" Sandy said.<\/p>\n
The accident might have affected Adi's concentration and made
\nhim scream for help, he said.<\/p>\n
His body was found an hour later about 400 meters from the
\nscene.<\/p>\n
