        "content": "<p>Floating library swamped by demand<\/p>\n<p>PALANGKARAYA, Central Kalimantan: Indonesia's first and only<br>\nfloating library, which operates on the Kapuas River, has been<br>\nswamped by queues of people wanting to borrow books, said Simpoen<br>\nMagat, head of the regional library.<\/p>\n<p>She told Antara yesterday that demand for books from people<br>\nliving along the river was high, but the floating library's<br>\ncollection is still limited.<\/p>\n<p>The floating library was launched several years ago to service<br>\ncommunities along the river. Simpoen suggested the government<br>\nestablish more libraries.<\/p>\n<p>\"There should be a library in every regency so that even<br>\npeople in the remotest areas have access to books,\" she said.<\/p>\n<p>Simpoen heads a staff of 74 librarians. The library has<br>\n81,000 copies of books, and 35,000 titles. (swe)<\/p>",
