        "content": "<p>Agam Regency (ANTARA) \u2014 A number of survivors of flash floods and\nlandslides in Nagari Sungai Batang, Tanjung Raya District, Agam Regency,\nWest Sumatra, have enthusiastically welcomed Ramadan 1447 Hijriah from\nthe Danantara temporary shelters (huntara).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very happy to be able to occupy the temporary shelter,\nespecially as we are about to observe the fasting month,\u201d said Erlina\n(59), one of the residents of the Danantara shelter in Agam Regency, on\nTuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Erlina, together with 15 households from Jorong Labuah, Nagari Sungai\nBatang, moved into the Danantara-built shelter on Saturday (14\nFebruary). The residents entered the shelters at the same time as 20\nother households from Jorong Bancah, Nagari Sungai Batang.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are two shelters here \u2014 15 households from Jorong Labuah and\n20 households from Jorong Bancah. We all moved in together during the\ninauguration,\u201d said Erlina.<\/p>\n<p>She said she was enthusiastic and grateful to be able to occupy the\ntemporary shelter, meaning she no longer had to sleep in evacuation\ncentres under severely limited conditions. For Tarawih prayers, the\nresidents plan to worship at a nearby prayer hall (mushala) not far from\nthe shelter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis morning we worked together to clean the prayer hall, and we are\ngrateful that we no longer have to sleep in evacuation centres during\nRamadan,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, Fitri (24), another resident, said the temporary shelters\nhad been of great help to the flash flood survivors, particularly with\nthe fasting month just days away.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPraise be to God, we have been able to move into the temporary\nshelters ahead of Ramadan,\u201d said the mother of one.<\/p>\n<p>Although they cannot perform Tarawih prayers at the mosque, which was\naffected by the flash floods, she and the other shelter residents are\nstill able to carry out the voluntary prayers at the nearest prayer\nhall.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, Agam Regency Secretary Muhammad Lutfi welcomed the swift\naction by Danantara and PT Nindya Karya in constructing the temporary\nshelters for residents affected by the hydrometeorological disaster in\nthe area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful for the concern and tangible contribution of\nDanantara and PT Nindya Karya in assisting post-disaster recovery\nefforts in Agam Regency,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The shelters provide a temporary solution that is far more adequate\nthan the previous evacuation conditions, whilst residents await the\nconstruction of permanent housing (huntap).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope that PT Nindya Karya\u2019s contribution does not stop at the\nconstruction of temporary shelters, but continues through to the\nbuilding of permanent housing,\u201d said Agam Regency Secretary Muhammad\nLutfi.<\/p>",
