Flandy, Eng Hian and Johan make early exit in Japan Open<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian men's doubles second seeds Flandy
\nLimpele and Eng Hian crashed in their first round match of the
\nUS$180,000 Japan Open in Tokyo on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Flandy and Eng Hian bowed out 6-15, 15-12, 15-17 to Pramote
\nTeerawiwatana and Tesana Pansisavas of Thailand, as reported by
\nAFP.<\/p>\n
The Indonesian pair have so far never been able to defeat the
\nThais.<\/p>\n
The Thais will now meet China's Zhang Wei and Zhang Jun who
\nhad a 17-16, 15-11 victory over Frederik Bergstrom and Henrik
\nAndersson of Denmark.<\/p>\n
"The Thai pair were indeed dangerous opponents. But Flandy and
\nDidi are in a tough group. Even if they won the first round, they
\nwould face the two Zhangs in the second round, and it wouldn't be
\neasy," coach Herry Iman Pierngadi said by telephone from Tokyo.<\/p>\n
Fourth seeds Choong Tan Fook and Lee Wan Wah of Malaysia had
\nto pack their bags after bowing out 8-15, 12-15 to China's Liu
\nYong and Chen Qiqiu.<\/p>\n
Indonesia's men's singles shuttler Johan Hadikusuma failed to
\nreach the second round after being eliminated by George Rimarcdi,
\nwho was born in Indonesian but who now plays for Sweden, 8-15,
\n15-13, 7-15.<\/p>\n
"Johan was too late in adapting. He was also troubled by the
\nbright lights during his decisive final set," coach Agus Dwi
\nMulyo said.<\/p>\n
The other Indonesians got through to the second round with
\nRonny Agustinus receiving a bye and now going on to challenge Ji
\nXinpeng of China, who also got a bye.<\/p>\n
All England men's doubles champions, Tony Gunawan and Halim
\nHeryanto, beat the Japanese pair of Norio Imai and Hiroshi Oyama
\n15-7, 15-9 while Candra Wijaya and Sigit Budiarto beat another
\nJapanese pair, Toru Matsumoto and Takanori Aoki, 15-9, 15-10.<\/p>\n
In the women's doubles, Deyana Lomban and Indarti Issoliana
\nwon an easy 15-4, 15-5 victory over Rebecca Pantaney and Joanne
\nWright of England.<\/p>\n
The Indonesian mixed doubles pairs also scored victories with
\nNova Widhianto and Vita Marissa ousting Malaysians Rosman Razak
\nand Joanne Quay 15-10, 15-11.<\/p>\n
Old hands Bambang Suprianto and Minarti Timur crushed Yuzo
\nKubota and Yoshiko Tago of Japan 15-7, 15-11. Tri Kusharyanto and
\nIndarti Issoliana beat Tesana Pansisavas and Salakjit Polsana of
\nThailand 15-7, 15-4.<\/p>\n
Women's singles top seed Camilla Martin of Denmark barely
\nperspired in winning 11-1, 11-1 over Scot Fiona Sneddon in only
