Five workers electrocuted, two killed<\/p>\n
PADANG, West Sumatra: Two people died and three others were
\ninjured late on Tuesday night in Padang Pariaman regency, after
\nthey were electrocuted.<\/p>\n
The incident began when the five were hired by local poll
\nofficials to raise the flags of 24 political parties eligible to
\ncontest the upcoming general election.<\/p>\n
The workers were told to raise the flags in Kurai Taji and
\nNaras subdistricts.<\/p>\n
As the five men were preparing to raise the flags on staffs
\nprovided by poll officials, it began to rain.<\/p>\n
Despite the storm, the men continued to work because they had
\nbeen asked to complete the job that night.<\/p>\n
"Apparently, one of the wet flags touched an open cable on a
\nnearby power line, which electrocuted them," said Adj. Comr.
\nTaswim Achmad, the chief of detectives of the Padang Pariaman
\nPolice, on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The deceased, Al Ambo, 23, and Mulyadi, 22, were buried on
\nWednesday. The three men injured in the incident are being
