Five vessels on fire<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A fire, believed to have started in the engine
\nroom of a cargo vessel docked at the Sunda Kelapa quay in North
\nJakarta, spread to four other ships.<\/p>\n
There were no fatalities but the fire caused hundreds of
\nmillions of rupiahs in losses and damages as all the cargo ships
\nwere almost completely destructed.<\/p>\n
According to City Police spokesman Lt. Col. Bambang Haryoko,
\nthe names of the five ships are Pelita Samudera, Tunas Harapan,
\nKumala Tri, Kumala Mas and Berkat Jasa VI.<\/p>\n
The fire started at about 8 p.m. Friday in the engine room of
\nPelita Samudera, which was loaded with salt fish from Bagan
\nSiapi-api in Riau, Bambang said.<\/p>\n
The other ships were loaded with plywood, wood products and
\nempty gas tanks.<\/p>\n
The cause of the fire, which lasted until Saturday morning, is
\nstill being investigated, the spokesman said.<\/p>\n
At least seven witnesses, including the ship's crew, have been
