Five RI students join physics contest in Poland<\/p>\n

Indonesia is sending five high school students to contest the
\nInternational Conference of Young Scientists 2005 in Physics,
\nMathematics, Computer Science, and Ecology in Katowice, Poland.<\/p>\n
This will be the first time that Indonesia has participated in
\nthe annual competition since 1993.<\/p>\n
The students are being coached by Yohanes Surya from the
\nIndonesian Institute for Physics Development to improve their
\nchances.<\/p>\n
The five students are Kridha Handaya of Taruna Nusantara
\nSenior High School in Magelang, Central Java; Dhina Susanti of
\nSMA 3 Senior High School in Semarang, Central Java; Chrysanthy
\nRebecca of Dian Harapan Senior High School in Banten; Annike
\nBowaire of SMA 1 Senior High School in Serui, Papua; and Diatra
\nZulaika of Al Izhar Islamic Junior High School in Pondok Labu,
\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
Kridha will present his research on the Physics of a Gong, a
\ntraditional Javanese musical instrument, while Dhina and
\nChrysanthy will explain their research on the Physics of a
\nShuttlecock.<\/p>\n
Annike and Diatra will present their paper on the Chaotic
\nSignature in the Horizontal Spring System.<\/p>\n
\"Their studies are original ones. I am optimistic they will
\nbring medals home upon completion of the contest,\" Surya said
\nhere on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The three papers have won a recent domestic competition
\nparticipated in by more than a hundred students.<\/p>\n
The five students will depart for Poland on Saturday and will
\nstay there until April 30. Their participation is fully supported
\nby PT Medco Energy, PT Indologistics, and PT Rio Tinto Indonesia.<\/p>\n
Last year, a high school student from Papua Septinus George
\nSaa won a gold medal at the 12th annual physics contest the First
\nStep to a Nobel Prize in Physics, for his work called Infinite
\nTriangle and Hexagonal Lattice Networks of Identical Resistor.<\/p>\n
The work demonstrated a new method for calculating the
\nresistance between two nodes in a hexagon.<\/p>",
