Five police rounded up<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Five police members were netted along with 61
\ncivilians in two separated operations against touts offering
\ntheir services to applicants of driver's licenses and other
\nvehicle documents yesterday.<\/p>\n
Capt. Monto Sutardjo of the Jakarta Police Internal Affairs
\nunit, which carried out the operation, told reporters yesterday
\nthat the suspects, including a woman, were caught red-handed
\nwhile trying to collect money from the public.<\/p>\n
"None of them realized they were being carefully watched by
\ninternal police officers.<\/p>\n
The first group of 23 people were netted at the city police
\ndriver's license administration office in Muara Angke, West
\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
The second group of 43 were captured at the vehicle
\nadministration unit at the city police headquarters on Jl. Gatot
\nSubroto in South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
As in many operations against touts, all the suspects were
\nreleased in the evening after signing forms stating they would
\nnot commit the same offense again.<\/p>\n
"If they are netted again, we'll bring them to court," Monto
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Monto's predecessor made the same threat many times over the
\nyears, but most touts operating in the city police complex are
