        "content": "<p>Five people missing after Bojong protest<\/p>\n<p>The Jakarta Post, Bogor\/Bandung\/Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>Five residents of Bojong village, Klapanunggal district, West<br>\nJava, are still missing after a violent protest on Monday against<br>\nthe planned trial of a waste processing facility.<\/p>\n<p>The Bogor Council recommended on Wednesday the temporary<br>\nclosure of the disputed plant.<\/p>\n<p>Residents identified four of the missing villagers as Sanan,<br>\nNaim, Hariyanto and Adang. They said all four were taken away by<br>\nthe police after the protest on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\"We have checked at the Bogor Police office and local<br>\nhospitals but we have been unable to locate the missing<br>\nresidents,\" said Samsul Bachri of the Indonesian Legal Aid<br>\nInstitute.<\/p>\n<p>One resident, Ontin, earlier notified the National Commission<br>\non Human Rights that her husband Dudung was missing.<\/p>\n<p>The protest on Monday turned violent when police opened fire<br>\non residents, wounding six.<\/p>\n<p>A group of 21 non-governmental organizations monitoring the<br>\ncase said police were still searching for additional suspects and<br>\nhad detained two more residents.<\/p>\n<p>\"The police released 18 of 37 people arrested for allegedly<br>\nprovoking the violence after we negotiated with them. Nineteen<br>\nothers, including two teenagers, are still being held,\" said<br>\nactivist Maruli Saragih.<\/p>\n<p>In a marathon session attended by Bogor deputy regent Albert<br>\nPribadi and Bogor Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Muhammad Raufik,<br>\nthe Bogor Council recommended the closure of the plant \"while we<br>\nevaluate it with representatives of plant operator PT Wira Guna<br>\nSejahtera and the Jakarta administration\", council speaker<br>\nRachmat Yasin said.<\/p>\n<p>West Java Governor Danny Setiawan said he and Jakarta Governor<br>\nSutiyoso had agreed to attempt to convince Bojong residents into<br>\naccepting a one-month trial for the plant.<\/p>\n<p>The residents believe the facility, designed to process waste<br>\nfrom Jakarta and Bogor, will cause health problems and damage the<br>\nenvironment.<\/p>",
