Five nominated tennis body chief<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Outgoing Indonesian Tennis Association chairman
\nSarwono Kusumaatmadja announced five candidates for the post he
\nwill relinquish in a congress which began on Thursday.<\/p>\n
State Minister of the Empowerment of State Enterprises Tanri
\nAbeng tops the list, with businesspeople Martina Wijaya, Ponco
\nSutowo and Sugeng Sarjadi and gynecologist Eddy Katimansah
\ntrailing.<\/p>\n
Sarwono said the candidates had all long been known for their
\ndedication and interest in the sport. Ponco, Martina and Eddy
\nhave been senior association executives during Sarwono's five-
\nyear term.<\/p>\n
The tennis body has introduced a rule that requires the five
\nnominees to spell out to the congress their respective programs.
\nThe election for the 1998\/2003 period will take place at the
\nconclusion of the congress on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Sarwono, who refused a second tenure, said he would throw his
\nweight behind Tanri, hoping the former businessman would raise
\nmore funds than he did for the cash-strapped organization. (yan)<\/p>",
