Five months jail for burglars<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The West Jakarta District Court yesterday
\nsentenced two men to five months imprisonment after finding them
\nguilty of stealing electronic goods.<\/p>\n
Surya and Nurdin stole the goods from the house of Robby on
\nJl. Jelambar, West Jakarta, on Nov. 13 last year, the judge said.
\nIncluded among the stolen goods were a television set and a fax
\nmachine.<\/p>\n
They broke into the house in the early hours of Nov. 13,
\naccording to witnesses.<\/p>\n
One of the witnesses, Udin, who is Robby's domestic helper,
\ntold the judge he saw two men breaking into the house, but he did
\nnot have the courage to foil the theft because he was all alone.<\/p>\n
"I saw the burglars help themselves to a television set and
\nsome other goods. They took the goods to a waiting car parked in
\nfront of the house," Udin said."I was too frightened to act.I did
\nnot even dare to shout because I feared that the robbers would
\nfind me."<\/p>\n
He said he and his employer's driver, Endang, later reported
\nthe theft to a nearby police precinct, who acted swiftly and
\napprehended the two culprits the following day just as they were
\nabout to rob another house, also located on Jl. Jelambar.
