Five killed in flood<\/p>\n
PURWOKERTO, Central Java: Major floods swept through the
\nregencies of Grobogan, Kendal and Cilacap, killing at least five
\npeople and forcing thousands of others to flee their homes last
\nweek, officials said.<\/p>\n
The floods, which were triggered by two days of rain, also
\ninundated thousands of houses and several thousand hectares of
\nrice fields.<\/p>\n
In Kendal, flooding was triggered by burst dikes along the
\nKalibodri river. It disrupted land transportation in a number of
\nareas.<\/p>\n
In Grobogan, the flooding was as deep as three meters in many
\nplaces, cutting off the main road connecting Semarang and
\nPurwodadi for several hours.<\/p>\n
The widespread flooding that inundated hundreds of hamlets in
