        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The University of Indonesia (UI) has introduced\nfive children\u2019s books by national authors translated into Japanese as a\ncultural diplomacy tool at an international festival in Chigasaki City,\nJapan.<\/p>\n<p>In an official statement from the Child, Youth, and Subculture\nResearch Group, Department of Literature, Faculty of Cultural Sciences\nat UI, received in Jakarta on Saturday, the Japanese-language editions\nwere produced through a strategic partnership with Litara as the\npublishing partner in the Indonesia-Japan Children Festival\nprogramme.<\/p>\n<p>The five Indonesian children\u2019s books translated by Andry Setiawan\nunder the programme include \u2018Where Is Your Sister\u2019s Songket?\u2019 by Dian\nKristiani, \u2018Golden Mantle\u2019 by N. Feby Indirani, \u2018Playground in the\nCabinet\u2019 by Andina Dwifatma, \u2018Fish Powder Croquette\u2019 by Yuli Rahmawati,\nand \u2018Tobalo Brown Sugar\u2019 by Hanna Fransisca.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Through creative, educational, and engaging approaches, the\ninitiative aims to introduce Japanese children to Indonesia\u2019s cultural\nrichness, language, and values while fostering cross-cultural\nunderstanding from a young age,\u2019 stated the activity report, supervised\nby UI\u2019s Directorate of Community Service and Social Innovation\n(DPIS).<\/p>\n<p>This children\u2019s literature translation initiative forms a key\ncomponent of UI\u2019s international community service programme, funded by\nthe Outbound World Class University (WCU) grant to strengthen the\nuniversity\u2019s internationalisation efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Through these books, children in Japan were invited to explore moral\nvalues and the diversity of Nusantara via interactive storytelling\nsessions held at Chigasaki City Library on Friday, 29 May local\ntime.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to listening to translated stories, Japanese children\nalso had the opportunity to hear postcards written by students from\nthree primary schools in Jakarta and Depok\u2014SDN 29 Johar Baru Jakarta,\nSDN 05 Rawabarat Jakarta, and SD Semut-Semut The Natural School\nCimanggis\u2014which began the programme in mid-May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Through this cross-border children\u2019s literature launch and reading\nevent, UI aims to foster a positive narrative about the nation\u2019s\ncreative originality in Japanese public spaces while cultivating mutual\nempathy and trust between nations from an early age.<\/p>",
