        "content": "<p>Fitness instructors still lacking knowledge: top bodybuilder<\/p>\n<p>The Jakarta Post<br>\nJakarta<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia's fitness and aerobics instructors are still lacking <br>\nknowledge about their field, which appears to be hampering its <br>\ndevelopment, according to the country's number one bodybuilder.<\/p>\n<p>\"Fitness centers are mushrooming here in Jakarta. The number <br>\ncould be the hundreds. But many of them are of a quality that is <br>\nfar from acceptable,\" Ade Rai said here on Saturday on the <br>\nsidelines of a two-day workshop on international fitness and <br>\naerobics.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop is being held by Reebok University, a worldwide <br>\nfitness institution established in 1993, at the Red Top Hotel and <br>\nwill run until Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The institution is now seeking cooperation with the Department <br>\nof National Education, which could lead to fitness education <br>\nbeing taught at schools, in its attempt to obtain public <br>\nrecognition.<\/p>\n<p>Ade said that fitness discipline in Indonesia was entering the <br>\nearliest phase of its development and that workshops and seminars <br>\non it were urgently required to equip local instructors with <br>\nsophisticated knowledge about aerobics.<\/p>\n<p>Ade is one of four local lecturers at the workshop, which is <br>\nbeing attended by around 400 participants. Some of them have come <br>\nfrom outside Java.<\/p>\n<p>\"This workshop aims to disseminate more information on fitness <br>\nso that they will be able to do their jobs better,\" said the 32-<br>\nyear-old, who is one of six members of the national bodybuilding <br>\nteam currently preparing for the 2002 Asian Games in South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Fred Hoffman, a France-based training master at the <br>\nworkshop, emphasized the need for good knowledge of the field by <br>\nfitness instructors.<\/p>\n<p>\"We encourage them to be open to new ideas and innovations. We <br>\nare giving them a fitness program that they can use with their <br>\nstudents,\" he said.<\/p>",
