An elderly fish trader named Siti Juariyah (64) was robbed of her
necklace on Jalan Pandu, Banjar Dukuh, Desa Dalung, Kecamatan Kuta
Utara, Badung, in the early hours of Thursday (5 March 2026). The
snatching was captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) and went
viral on social media after being uploaded by the victim’s
granddaughter.

‘The incident happened when I was tidying my fish stall facing east,
around five to seven minutes past five. Suddenly a person riding a PCX
motorcycle from the north rode close and pulled the necklace from my
neck until I was pushed a metre,’ said Siti Juariyah while giving a
statement at the scene.

The assailant, who approached from the north, wore a grey jacket, a
black helmet, and a mask to cover his face. Based on CCTV footage at
Siti Juariyah’s stall, the perpetrator parked a black Honda PCX
motorcycle without a number plate directly in front of the stall before
carrying out the act.

‘At that moment I heard my grandmother scream very loudly, so I ran
out from the neighbouring eatery to help. I briefly saw the man flee
quickly to the south on his motorbike,’ said Riska Lestari, Siti
Juariyah’s granddaughter.

As a result of the forcible pull, the gold necklace worn by the
victim broke, and the perpetrator only managed to escape with part of
the jewellery. The victim suffered material losses of around Rp 1
million because the thief filched a quarter of the necklace.

‘The offender was tall and thin, about 175 centimetres, wearing
dark-coloured trousers at the time. He immediately fled towards
(Padonan) main road,’ added Riska in describing the suspect.

Police have conducted a crime scene examination and reviewed several
CCTV recordings along the suspect’s escape route, including areas Joglo
Dalung and Ari Laundry. Although the suspect was seen traversing Jalan
Raya Padonan at 04:54 WITA, identifying details remain difficult due to
the poor image quality.

‘We have visited the location to gather statements from witnesses and
the victim, and the team is now conducting further investigations to
uncover who the perpetrator is,’ said Kuta Utara Police Chief Kompol I
Ketut Agus Pasek Sudina in a statement on Sunday (8 March 2026).
",
