State universities such as Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) and\nUniversitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) have started implementing\nefficiency policies with work from home (WFH) on Friday, 10 April 2026.\nHowever, at Unpad, some activities are still taking place in several\nfaculties.<\/p>\n
The Head of Unpad\u2019s Public Communication Office, Dandi Supriadi,\nstated that the WFH regulation was only disseminated two days ago.\nMeanwhile, there are some campus activities that have been scheduled far\nin advance and are difficult to cancel because they involve external\npartners. For example, events in the nursing faculty\u2019s anniversary\nseries. \u201cAlthough the circular is to implement WFH for today, it cannot\nbe done completely,\u201d he said on Friday, 10 April 2026.<\/p>\n
In other faculties such as communication sciences, there are\npractical lectures. According to Dandi, the practical schedule on WFH\nFridays at Unpad is difficult to shift. \u201cBecause it is already in the\ncurriculum and it is hard to find a replacement day for laboratory use,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n
Unpad\u2019s WFH regulation was issued by the Vice Rector for Resources\nand Governance, Widya Setiabudi Sumadinata, through Circular Letter\nNo.\u00a01198\/UN6.WR4\/TU.00\/2026 on Work Pattern Adjustments. The provisions,\nwhich were disseminated to the campus\u2019s academic community on 7 April,\nrefer to the Circular Letter of the Minister of Higher Education,\nScience, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia No.\u00a02 of 2026 on\nWork Pattern Adjustments and Academic Activities.<\/p>\n
The circular states that WFH is applied to all academic community\nmembers and educational personnel, especially those working in\nadministrative fields. For lecturers and educational personnel who have\ntask schedules on Fridays related to practicals, WFH implementation can\nbe shifted to another day with further arrangements in their respective\nwork units. According to Unpad Rector Arief S. Kartasasmita, the WFH\npolicy was issued to anticipate the global energy crisis.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, according to the Head of UPI\u2019s Public Communication,\nInformation, and Services Office, Vidi Sukmayadi, on the first WFH day\nof Friday, 10 April 2026, practical class lectures were held on campus.\n\u201cOther students have started online classes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Other activities such as seminars or anniversary events have been\narranged not to take place on Fridays. Exceptions apply if there are\nstate agendas, such as visits from Ministry of Social Affairs officials\nto explore cooperation related to the development of People\u2019s\nSchools.<\/p>\n
In general, the WFH policy at UPI campus is applied to all employees\nin academic and non-academic units with different implementation\npatterns. In non-academic units, employees carry out WFH every Friday.\nMeanwhile, in academic units and health services, work is done in the\noffice (WFO) proportionally.<\/p>\n
The provisions require 50 percent of employees to be present\nalternately, so each employee still has a WFH obligation one day per\nweek.
