        "content": "<p>Magelang (ANTARA) - Culture Minister Fadli Zon stated that the\nNusantara Heritage Procession was held for the first time in the\nBorobudur Temple area to commemorate World Cultural Heritage Day on 18\nApril and National Keris Day on 19 April.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis activity involves various cultural stakeholders, from cultural\nexperts, artists, religious figures, to villagers around the Borobudur\narea,\u201d he said in Magelang, Central Java, on Friday (17\/4) night.<\/p>\n<p>The procession participants walked through the main gate and headed\nto the Kenari courtyard on the west side of Borobudur Temple after\ncircling the temple once. On that occasion, the Culture Minister also\nreleased birds and two ducks.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that such participation demonstrates that Borobudur is a\nshared cultural heritage, not only for Indonesian society but also for\nthe world.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the procession serves as a momentum to increase\npublic affection and awareness towards culture as an important part in\nsafeguarding national identity. In addition, this activity is expected\nto provide tangible benefits to the surrounding community, in line with\nthe principle of utility in the Cultural Advancement Law.<\/p>\n<p>He said that villagers who worked together to prepare various\ntraditional dishes, including tumpeng. Various cultural attributes were\nalso displayed, such as traditional attire, as well as male tumpeng and\nfemale tumpeng as part of Nusantara cultural expressions.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the selection of Borobudur as the procession\nlocation is deemed appropriate because the site is one of the iconic\nsymbols of past cultural and civilisational advancement. Hitherto,\nheritage processions have been more commonly known to be held in palace\nenvironments, such as in Solo and Yogyakarta, or in other regions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Nusantara Heritage Procession at Borobudur is the first to be\nheld in that area and received enthusiastic responses from the public\nand cultural communities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He hopes that with this activity, cultural preservation can continue\nto be enhanced while providing positive impacts on the social and\neconomic life of the community around the Borobudur area.<\/p>",
