        "content": "<p>Firms asked to report debts<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Bank Indonesia has issued a ruling requiring all<br>\nlocal companies and institutions to report their foreign debts to<br>\nthe central bank.<\/p>\n<p>According to the new ruling, companies and institutions which<br>\nfail to report their foreign debts on time will be fined Rp<br>\n100,000 per day of delay.<\/p>\n<p>If the companies or institutions do not report their foreign<br>\ndebts within six months after the debts have been incurred, they<br>\nwill have to pay a fine of 1 percent of their total debt to the<br>\ncentral bank, in addition to the daily fine.<\/p>\n<p>If a report is incorrect or incomplete, the company or<br>\ninstitution concerned will have to pay a fine of Rp 1,000,000,<br>\nthe central bank said.<\/p>\n<p>The requirement to report foreign debts was previously<br>\ncontained in Presidential Decree No. 137\/2000, which was<br>\nrescinded last month, following the enactment of the new Capital<br>\nFlows and Exchange Rate Law.(hen)<\/p>",
