Fires leave hundreds homeless<\/p>\n
BANDUNG: Fire broke out simultaneously in the districts of
\nLengkong and Cidadas here yesterday morning, destroying more than
\n40 houses and leaving hundreds homeless, Antara reported.<\/p>\n
There were no immediate reports of casualties in the fires
\nwhich were concentrated in the densely populated subdistricts of
\nMalabar and Cidurian.<\/p>\n
Five fire brigades were deployed to put out the fires, but
\ndozens of the houses were gutted. They were mostly made of
\neasily burned materials.<\/p>\n
\"Most of us were still asleep when the fire broke out, but
\nhysterical screams to save ourselves and as many our belongings
\nas possible, woke us,\" Nana Kuswara, a community chief in
\nMalabar, was quoted as saying. (aan)<\/p>",
