        "content": "<p>The six provinces are Riau, Jambi, South Sumatra, West Kalimantan,\nSouth Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan.<\/p>\n<p>Acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication\nCenter Berton SP Panjaitan said ground and air firefighting teams had\nreached 55 districts and cities across the six provinces as of September\n9.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOverall, we extinguished more than 421 hectares of land. This was\nthe result of hard work by both ground and air firefighting task\nforces,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The operation involved 43,951 ground personnel and 55 aircraft,\ncomprising 17 patrol helicopters and 38 water-bombing helicopters,\nPanjaitan said.<\/p>\n<p>To induce artificial rain, BNPB and Indonesia\u2019s Meteorology,\nClimatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) conducted weather modification\noperations using 7,600 kilograms of salt for cloud seeding.<\/p>\n<p>Panjaitan said West Kalimantan and South Sumatra were the current\npriorities because of widespread hotspots, particularly on peatlands\nnear airports, toll roads and residential areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing the direction of the BNPB chief, who is currently visiting\nKalimantan, firefighting efforts are focused on strengthening ground\npersonnel, who are most effective at extinguishing hotspots in remote\nareas with limited water access,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>BNPB urged regional governments and relevant ministries and agencies\nto fully use available equipment and resources to quickly contain forest\nand land fires and prevent their recurrence during the dry season.<\/p>\n<p>Related news: Indonesia uses 4.6 million liters of water to fight\nwildfires<\/p>\n<p>Related news: Six priority provinces\u2019 fires are under control:\nBNPB<\/p>\n<p>Translator: M.
