Fired drivers meet legislators<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Twelve former drivers of the Gamya Taxi company
\nfinally managed to meet with members of the House of
\nRepresentatives on Thursday to lodge a protest over their
\ndismissal from the taxi firm which, they claim, was unfair.<\/p>\n
The meeting with the legislators was held on Thursday, after
\nthe workers failed to get a hearing on Wednesday -- not on
\nThursday, as reported on this page yesterday.<\/p>\n
At the meeting the drivers, who were accompanied by their
\nfamilies, said that they were among 130 Gamya Taxi employees who
\nhad been fired between April and June last year.<\/p>\n
\"The mass dismissal was carried out after the employees took
\nthe initiative of setting up a branch of the All-Indonesia
\nWorkers' Union at the company,\" Novri Samsudin, one of the
\ndrivers, said.<\/p>\n
At the meeting the fired drivers were received by members of
\nthe Indonesian Democratic Party faction, including Tiop Harun
\nSitorus, Marsinggih Marnadi and I Gusti Ngurah Sara. (hhr)<\/p>",
