Java<\/p>\n<p>SIDOARDJO, East Java: Two people were killed and eight others<br>\ninjured when a hazardous experiment with firecrackers went<br>\nterribly wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Witnesses said that Isomudin, 28, a resident of Kenongo<br>\nvillage, and Matkijo, 20, from Telasih village, Tulangan<br>\nsubdistrict, connected firecracker detonation wires to a<br>\nmotorcycle battery.<\/p>\n<p>When one of the two men started the motorcycle there was a<br>\nhuge explosion.<\/p>\n<p>Witnesses said the sound of the explosion could be heard two<br>\nkilometers away.<\/p>\n<p>Onlookers tried to help Isomudin and Matkijo, who were<br>\nstanding closest to the firecrackers, but their injuries were<br>\nsevere and both died at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Antara reported that eight others were also injured and taken<br>\nto nearby Dr. Soetomo and Sidoarjo hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>Firecrackers are illegal in Indonesia but can still be found<br>\non sale at various locations during celebrations like Idul Fitri.<br>\n(mds)<\/p>",
