Fire victims receive tents<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The North Jakarta mayoralty has put up tents in
\nCilincing, North Jakarta, to accommodate area residents whose
\nhouses were destroyed by fire on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The fire raged through 213 houses, leaving one man dead and
\n1,321 people homeless. The authorities said the fire also caused
\na total of Rp 1 billion in damages.<\/p>\n
Fire fighters, with 12 fire trucks, extinguished the blaze in
\nthree-and-a-half hours.<\/p>\n
A fireman told The Jakarta Post on Saturday that the fire
\nstarted with the explosion of a kerosene stove.<\/p>\n
The mayoralty also has sent in rice, noodles, and other items
\nneeded by the victims.<\/p>\n
Twenty volunteers from the North Jakarta branch of the
\nIndonesian Red Cross are working at the site to help the
\nresidents, who hope for assistance in rebuilding their homes.
