Fire razes former police chief's house<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A fire gutted a house belonging to former
\nNational Police chief Gen. (ret). Banurusman Astrosemitro on Jl.
\nBlok I in the Bukit Sarua Indah housing complex, Ciputat, South
\nJakarta Saturday. No fatalities were reported.<\/p>\n
A firefighter of the South Jakarta fire department, Yoyok,
\nsaid yesterday the fire, which started about 9 a.m., caused
\nmaterial losses valued at millions of rupiah.<\/p>\n
\"The fire was believed to be caused by an electric short
\ncircuit in the house,\" Yoyok said.<\/p>\n
A police officer at the South Jakarta police precinct said the
\nhouse was occupied by Banurusman's relatives, who were away when
\nthe fire took place.<\/p>\n
According to a maid in the house, the fire started in the
\nkitchen.<\/p>\n
The maid shouted for help upon seeing the fire quickly spread
\nto other parts of the house.<\/p>\n
The fire department deployed four fire engines and
\nFire razes former police chief's house extinguished the fire in
