        "content": "<p>A major fire struck a residential area on Jalan Pendidikan Raya VI,\nDuren Sawit, East Jakarta, on Tuesday (25\/8\/2026). The incident, which\noccurred at around 10.40 WIB, destroyed at least 40 buildings.<\/p>\n<p>The head of RT 04\/RW 14, Dwi, confirmed that the majority of the\nbuildings that burned were semi-permanent dwellings. \u201cThere are 40\nbuildings affected, 39 semi-permanent houses (bedeng houses), and one\nfully permanent house, a resident\u2019s home,\u201d Dwi said when contacted in\nJakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Dwi explained that the fire is suspected to have originated from one\nof the residents\u2019 houses that was empty. Although the fire spread\nquickly and destroyed dozens of buildings, it was confirmed that there\nwere no fatalities in the incident. However, 84 people were reported\naffected and lost their homes.<\/p>\n<p>According to an eyewitness at the scene, Baskoro, the fire spread\nrapidly because the area was dominated by semi-permanent buildings made\nof highly flammable materials. He also highlighted a bad habit of\nburning rubbish in the vicinity before the disaster occurred.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are semi-permanent houses, actually illegal by law. They have\nburned rubbish carelessly several times,\u201d Baskoro said.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the possibility of an electrical short circuit, Baskoro\nsaid it was unlikely to have been the cause in the house where the fire\nstarted.
