        "content": "<p>Fire guts Bali provincial legislative building<\/p>\n<p>DENPASAR, Bali (JP): Fire gutted the Madya Mandala provincial<br>\nlegislative council building in the wee hours of Thursday,<br>\nresulting in millions of rupiah in losses.<\/p>\n<p>No fatalities or injuries were reported in the fire, but all<br>\ndocuments and furnishings on the third floor were destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>The third floor was the center for administrative work.<\/p>\n<p>Police temporarily sealed off the traditional Balinese-style<br>\nstructure, pending a further probe into the blaze. Legislators<br>\nand staff of the council's secretariat were among those<br>\nprohibited from entering the building.<\/p>\n<p>\"The fire started around 12:30 a.m. Results of the preliminary<br>\ninvestigation have revealed that a short circuit was the likely<br>\ncause of fire. We won't jump to the conclusion that the incident<br>\nwas arson,\" Bali Police chief Brig. Gen. Togar Sianipar said.<\/p>\n<p>Four night security guards in the building and two other<br>\nwitnesses were questioned in relation to the fire, Togar said.<\/p>\n<p>It took 16 fire engines two hours to extinguish the fire.<\/p>\n<p>Almost all of the third level was ruined, but the other<br>\nfloors, where the plenary hall is located, remains intact.<\/p>\n<p>Bali Governor Dewa Beratha, Deputy Governor I Gusti Alit Putra<br>\nand Secretary of Bali Administration Putu Wijanaya, whose offices<br>\nlie opposite the burning building, were seen observing the fire.<\/p>\n<p>The council's secretary, I Nyoman Yasa, said security<br>\npersonnel arrested four people who were seen leaving the<br>\ncouncil's compound after the fire broke out. Police found ropes<br>\nand an iron bar in their car. The license plates were from<br>\noutside Bali.<\/p>\n<p>A few hours later, fire also razed a police housing complex in<br>\nSanglah, three kilometers west of the council building, leaving<br>\nnine houses leveled.<\/p>\n<p>No fatalities were reported in the incident. Officials said<br>\nthe fire was probably caused also by a short circuit.<\/p>\n<p>Four fire engines were deployed to extinguish the fire at<br>\n10:05 a.m. (zen\/edt)<\/p>",
