Fire destroys discotheque<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Fire gutted yesterday the Terminal One
\nDiscotheque at the Harco shopping center in Glodok, Jl. Hayam
\nWuruk, West Jakarta.<\/p>\n
A West Jakarta Police Precinct captain said the fire, which
\nbegan at 2:20 p.m, started in the discotheque's kitchen.<\/p>\n
\"The losses have yet to be calculated. The fire was probably
\ncaused by an electrical short circuit in the kitchen,\" the
\nofficer said.<\/p>\n
West Jakarta Fire Brigade Chief Syamsir Makmur said his men
\nfound it hard to extinguish the fire because the discotheque,
\nwhich was located in the building's third, fourth and fifth
\nfloors, had only one small entrance.<\/p>\n
Twelve fire trucks, one with ladders, put out the fire at 4:30
\np.m.<\/p>\n
Discotheheque security officer M. Junaidi said only four
\nemployees, including him, were in the discotheque when the fire
\nbroke out.<\/p>\n
He said the discotheque was supposed to open last night after
\nclosing Thursday night in line with the Governor's instruction to
\nclose for the start of Ramadhan.<\/p>\n
He said the discotheque's owner was holidaying in Puncak, West
\nJava.<\/p>\n
The City Fire Brigade chief Suharsono said the fire was the
\nfifteenth in the city this month although most were small.<\/p>\n
The worst fire was on Jl. Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, Tuesday,
\nin which two men, a woman and her child died. The blaze gutted a
\nfour-story shophouse which was also a garment factory. (jun)<\/p>",
