FINEX again postpones Singapore dollar futures<\/p>\n
NEW YORK (Reuter): FINEX, the financial products division of
\nthe New York Cotton Exchange (NYCE), again postponed the launch
\nof the a futures contract on the Singapore dollar Friday, but
\nsuccessfully launched futures contracts on three other Asian
\ncurrencies, an exchange official said.<\/p>\n
\"We successfully launched the contracts on the Malaysian
\nringgit, the Indonesian rupiah and the Thai baht today, but we
\nhad to postpone the start of the Singapore dollar contract,\"
\nexchange research and product development officer, June Furlan,
\ntold Reuters.<\/p>\n
\"We are still in discussions with the MAS (Monetary Authority
\nof Singapore) on the Singapore dollar contract and we don't have
\na new launch date yet, but we are hoping it will be in
\nSeptember,\" she said.<\/p>\n
Earlier the MAS and the Indonesian central bank both expressed
\nconcerns about the launch of the new currency futures contracts
\nby FINEX.<\/p>\n
As a result FINEX postponed the launch of the new financial
\nderivative products from June 26 to July 11.<\/p>\n
The currency pairs being traded under the new contracts are:
\nthe U.S. dollar\/Malaysian ringgit, U.S. dollar\/Indonesian rupiah,
\nU.S. dollar\/Thai baht and U.S. dollar\/Singapore dollar.<\/p>",
