        "content": "<p>Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has spoken out regarding the\npossibility of temporarily suspending the Director General of Customs,\nDjaka Budhi Utama, after his name surfaced in an alleged corruption case\nwithin the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC), currently\nunder investigation by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).<\/p>\n<p>He stated that no suspension of Djaka will be carried out for now, as\nthe Ministry of Finance is still seeking clarity on his involvement in\nthe alleged corruption case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo (temporary suspension will be done). I don\u2019t yet know clearly\nwhat this is like,\u201d Purbaya said at the Ministry of Finance in Jakarta\non Thursday, 7 May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis (his name) was just mentioned last night in one media outlet,\nright, in the court,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>When asked further whether the ministry would proceed with a\nsuspension if Djaka is proven to be involved in the case, Purbaya only\nsaid that they would first observe the continuation of the legal process\nin the case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll see what the continuation of the process is like,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>It is known that the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC)\nof the Ministry of Finance, through the Deputy Head of Public Relations\nand Customs Education Subdivision, Budi Prasetiyo, emphasised that they\nwill respect the court\u2019s legal process involving the name of Director\nGeneral of Customs and Excise, Djaka Budhi Utama.<\/p>\n<p>Djaka\u2019s name emerged in the indictment of the defendant and owner of\nBlueray Cargo, John Field. Nevertheless, Budi stated that they will\ncontinue to uphold the principle of presumption of innocence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince this case has entered the trial stage, to respect and maintain\nthe independence of that process, we will not comment on the substance\nof the case,\u201d Budi said in his statement on Thursday, 7 May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is still awaiting\ndevelopments in the investigation of the alleged corruption case within\nDJBC, following the emergence of Director General Djaka\u2019s name. KPK\nSpokesperson Budi Prasetyo explained that the investigation into the\nalleged corruption at Customs and Excise is still ongoing, after KPK\ninvestigators found several sums of money during searches some time\nago.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, on 4 February 2026, the KPK conducted a sting operation\n(OTT) within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the\nMinistry of Finance.
