        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2014 Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has revealed that\nFitch Ratings\u2019 downgrade of Indonesia\u2019s debt outlook to negative\nyesterday was likely influenced by the newness of his government and\nministry.<\/p>\n<p>He believes foreign agencies have not yet understood his capabilities\nwell, as he has not yet travelled abroad, including meeting Indonesian\ninvestors overseas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPerhaps it is still a new government and a new Finance Minister, so\nthey might think the Finance Minister cannot do calculations. So that is\nalso my fault because I have never gone abroad,\u201d Purbaya said during a\npress conference at his office in Central Jakarta on Monday (9 March\n2026).<\/p>\n<p>Previously, he had pledged not to travel abroad before Indonesia\u2019s\neconomy grows by 6%. However, given Fitch\u2019s assessment, he has realised\nhe must actively promote Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInitially, I thought that before Indonesia grows by 6%, I would not\ngo abroad. But now this must change because I must also market what our\nsituation is like,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He acknowledged that he will travel abroad in April 2026 to\ndemonstrate the Finance Minister\u2019s work. He plans to attend the\nIMF-World Bank meetings in Washington DC, United States.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo in April I will go abroad to ensure that our Finance Minister\nunderstands what is being done,\u201d Purbaya stated firmly.<\/p>",
