        "content": "<p>KUPANG, KOMPAS.com \u2013 Residents in the border region, specifically in\nMandeu Village, Raihat Subdistrict (Rainanuk), Belu Regency, East Nusa\nTenggara (NTT), can finally experience smooth and proper road\naccess.<\/p>\n<p>The construction of the road through the Inpres Jalan Daerah (IJD)\nprogramme, spanning 4 kilometres in the village, has been completed.<\/p>\n<p>This project is part of the IJD programme for the 2025 fiscal year,\ncarried out by the National Road Implementing Unit Region II, the NTT\nNational Road Executing Agency (BPJN), under the Directorate General of\nHighway Development, Ministry of Public Works (PU).<\/p>\n<p>One resident of Mandeu Village, Loris Lay, expressed gratitude and\nthanks for the road construction.<\/p>\n<p>He revealed that previously, the road condition was severely damaged\nand full of potholes, making daily activities difficult for\nresidents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very grateful to the BPJN NTT and the contractor for building\nthis road. Previously, the road was badly damaged, now it\u2019s smooth and\nvery helpful for us,\u201d he told Kompas.com on Friday (24\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>According to Loris, this road improvement has a significant impact on\ncommunity mobility, especially in taking children to school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, children are no longer late for school. We also find it easier\nto go to church, because previously small vehicles had difficulty\npassing due to large potholes,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, he hopes the government can continue road construction\ntowards Malaka, which is still damaged for about 20 kilometres,\nincluding the route to Teun, which has not yet been repaired.<\/p>\n<p>A similar sentiment was expressed by another resident, Lorens. He\nadmitted to being greatly helped by the well-built quality road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf possible, the government should appreciate the agency and\ncontractor for delivering a road that is very beneficial to the\ncommunity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, going to the market can be done quickly after this smooth road\nwas built,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>Lorens also hopes that the road quality remains maintained so it can\nbe used for a long time, and similar constructions can be continued in\nother areas that still need it.<\/p>\n<p>This road infrastructure development serves as tangible proof of the\ngovernment\u2019s presence in improving connectivity and community welfare,\nespecially in border regions.<\/p>",
