To the best of my knowledge, an exceptionally bright second
\ngrader in Junior High School is allowed to take the final
\nexamination intended for the third graders. But, to my surprise,
\nthe official from the Jakarta Office of the Department of
\nEducation and Culture refused to permit my child to take part in
\nthe exam, despite the fact that my child was ranked first in the
\nsecond grade. They argued that they knew nothing about the
\nregulation.<\/p>\n

I consider their objection a stumbling block for those
\nstudents who prove to be high achievers. Besides, the parents can
\nsave in terms of money if the entitled students are allowed to
\ntake the final examination a year earlier.<\/p>\n

I hope the Department of Education and Culture studies the
\nmatter and makes their personnel conversant with all regulations,
\nparticularly the one which concerns the examination for best
\nachievers in the second grade.<\/p>\n
