'Filthy three' go to restroom<\/p>\n
A campaign against the United States, Australia and Canada on
\nFriday was taken, literally, into the restrooms at the Bali
\nInternational Convention Center, where the UN meeting was held
\nover the past two weeks.<\/p>\n
Posters carrying pictures of a monster with three heads
\ndepicting the U.S., Australia and Canada, which non-governmental
\norganization activists called the \"filthy three\" were plastered
\ninside and outside of the restrooms at the BICC.<\/p>\n
\"This is a creative dirty campaign,\" said one delegate
\ninterviewed in front of a restroom.<\/p>\n
It was Greenpeace activists who started the campaign against
\nthe three countries, which are being accused of siding too much
\nwith their multinational corporations in the negotiations in
\nBali.<\/p>\n
Greenpeace also made a local Balinese ogoh-ogoh monster effigy
\nwith three heads depicting United States, Australia and Canada,
\nbut could not use it was considered offensive to the Balinese

The last day of the Bali meeting marked the beginning of slower
\nbusiness days for restaurants in the Nusa Dua resort compound.<\/p>\n
As the delegations packed their bags and left Bali, the
\nrestaurants' waiters had to do their utmost to lure customers.<\/p>\n
\"Come on miss, have lunch in our place, we give you 60 percent
\ndiscounts if you dine in our place,\" one of the waiters said as
\nsome of the delegation members passed.<\/p>\n
He said that the days would be as slow as they used to be so

During the UN meeting in Bali, mobile phones are apparently a
\nhotter commodity than thousands of dollars worth of laptops.<\/p>\n
A female reporter from an American newswire had her mobile
\nphone stolen as she interviewed Emil Salim, chairman of the
\nmeeting.<\/p>\n
She said that the phone had sounded during the interview so
\nshe had to take it out of her bag and turn it off.<\/p>\n
I think it fell out of my hand then, but when I looked down it
\nwasn't there anymore\".<\/p>\n
However, several unattended laptops in the media center,
\nincluding hers, remained untouched during the quiet hours of

As the preparatory committee (prepcom) IV meeting drew to a
\nclose, negotiations over some contentious issues in the draft
\nplan of implementation became more heated, disrupting the travel
\nitineraries of organizers as well as those from the press

A staff member from the United Nations Information Center
\n(UNIC) in Jakarta said that his plane ticket for the next day had
\nto be postponed due to delays in the negotiations.<\/p>\n
A similar fate was experienced by a reporter from Jakarta who
\nhad to reschedule her flight from Friday night to Saturday
\nafternoon.<\/p>\n
\"I had planned to travel to Jakarta tonight at 10 p.m. But
\nthen, we were told that the negotiations would continue until
\nmidnight, so I have to reschedule my flight,\" she said.<\/p>",
