        "content": "<p>Filipino troops clash with rebels<\/p>\n<p>ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines (DPA): Army patrol troops clashed<br>\nyesterday with members of the Philippines' largest remaining<br>\nMoslem rebel group, killing two guerrillas a day after ground<br>\nrules for a cease-fire in the southern region of Mindanao were<br>\napproved.<\/p>\n<p>Army Capt. Salih Indanan, chief information officer of the<br>\nArmed Forces' Southern Command, said the gun battle erupted after<br>\nthe rebels were caught collecting \"revolutionary taxes\" near<br>\nSirawai town in Zamboanga del Norte province, 810 kilometers<br>\nsouth of Manila.<\/p>\n<p>Indanan said the 15 heavily-armed members of the Moro Islamic<br>\nLiberation Front (MILF) fled to a nearby forested area after the<br>\nbrief encounter. But army troopers, backed by two tanks, were<br>\npursuing the guerrillas.<\/p>\n<p>The latest fighting erupted after the government and the MILF<br>\nlaid down ground rules to implement an agreement for a cessation<br>\nof hostilities in Mindanao signed July 18 after weeks of intense<br>\nbattles that left more than 150 people dead.<\/p>",
