A fianc\u00e9e from Tlogowungu, Pati Regency, who fled with another man\nahead of her akad nikah, was found at a hotel in Jepara Regency on\nSaturday morning (23 May). The couple were escorted by police and are\nbeing questioned for clarification on the incident.<\/p>\n
NAS, 19, from Tlogowungu, and DF, 18, both wearing black T-shirts,\nwere seen with troubled expressions as officers from the Pati City\nPolice questioned them.<\/p>\n
NAS reportedly surrendered only when officers knocked on the door\nafter they were found at the Jepara hotel, following days of search\ntriggered by a report from NAS\u2019s family that the daughter had gone\nmissing a few hours before the ceremony with Salim, a 33-year-old man\nfrom the same district, who had proposed to NAS.<\/p>\n
According to AKP Mujahid, head of Telogowungu Police, the search\nbegan at the couple\u2019s bridal room location, then extended to other\nlocations, eventually leading to Jepara. After coordinating with Jepara\nPolice, both were located in a hotel.<\/p>\n
Outside the hotel, police found a motorbike belonging to DF, which is\nbelieved to have been used to flee from the wedding; inside a hotel\nroom, the two were found. \u2018When the door was knocked, the woman opened\nit while the man was still asleep and woke when officers entered,\u2019\nMujahid said.<\/p>\n
NAS\u2019s parents said the matter began months earlier when their\ndaughter received an engagement proposal from Salim, a man from the same\nvillage. The couple had become engaged and families had discussed the\nwedding, with administrative steps arranged with the local KUA and a\ndate set.<\/p>\n
\u2018My daughter NAS even yesterday before the wedding had been told by\nthe groom\u2019s family that they were ready to marry Salim,\u2019 said a relative\nwho did not wish to be named.<\/p>\n
The family had prepared wedding arrangements, including KUA\nadministrative work and the date, but at around 03:00 local time the\nbride-to-be disappeared, leaving the family and neighbours in shock. A\nneighbour, Ani, said the groom\u2019s family had come to carry out the\nceremony and were surprised to find the fianc\u00e9e missing; the dowry had\nalready been prepared.<\/p>\n
\u2018The fianc\u00e9e ran away with a man from a neighbouring village; they\nhad become acquainted during the engagement process,\u2019 Ani added.<\/p>\n
