        "content": "<p>PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) has affirmed that fertiliser\navailability and affordability remain non-negotiable amid its efforts to\ntransition to cleaner energy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur energy transition is gradual and measured,\u201d the company\u2019s\ncorporate secretary, Yehezkiel Adiperwira, said in Jakarta on\nThursday.<\/p>\n<p>Yehezkiel said fertiliser was a significant factor in meeting\nnational food needs, particularly in achieving the government\u2019s target\nof food self-sufficiency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are ensuring that all our factories remain reliable, including\nthose producing urea, NPK and other fertilisers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>By 2050, total emissions under a business-as-usual scenario, with no\nintervention, are projected to reach 25 million tonnes of CO2\nequivalent. PT Pupuk Indonesia\u2019s roadmap, however, targets a 96 per cent\nreduction in emissions by 2050, to about 1.7 million tonnes of CO2\nequivalent.<\/p>\n<p>Yehezkiel said the company was pursuing strategies to meet the target\nover the short, medium and long term.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the short term, the target for reducing energy consumption is\nlinked to energy efficiency through factory revitalisation, followed by\nreducing gas consumption per tonne of product,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
