A Semarang District Court has handed down a six-year prison sentence\nto AKBP Basuki, a police officer who faced charges in connection with\nthe death of D (35), a female lecturer from Universitas 17 Agustus 1945\n(Untag). D was found naked at a hotel in Semarang, Central Java, in\nNovember 2025, and is believed to have been staying there with a man\nidentified by the initials B, who was also a police officer.<\/p>\n
The judge, presiding over the case, Achmad Rasjid, said Basuki was an\nactive member of the police who should have known that a person in\ndanger required help. Instead, the defendant allegedly ignored the\nvictim DL\u2019s condition and deprived her of medical treatment that could\nhave saved her life.<\/p>\n
In relation to the verdict, Basuki has said he will appeal, while the\nprosecutors have indicated they will consider their next move.<\/p>\n
Earlier, a lecturer at Untag Semarang, D, 35, was found dead in a\nhotel in the Gajahmungkur district of Semarang in mid-November. The\nvictim was staying at the boarding house with a man identified by the\ninitials B, who was also a police officer.<\/p>\n
Police launched an investigation into the lecturer\u2019s death. The\nPolice Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP) proceedings against Basuki were\nconducted by Polda Jateng in the wake of Levi\u2019s death. Basuki was\nsubsequently given a dismissal without honour (PTDH).<\/p>\n
Public Relations Head of Polda Jateng, Kombes Pol Artanto, said\nBasuki had known the victim since 2020 and is thought to have lived\nunder the same roof without a legally sanctioned marriage since\nthen.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe violation concerns the officer living with a woman without a\nlawful marriage. The officer\u2019s conduct is a serious breach of the ethics\ncode, given it touches on propriety and public behaviour,\u201d Artanto\nsaid.<\/p>\n
\u201cAccording to AKBP B\u2019s account with D, the relationship has lasted\nsince around 2020. However, this should be re-examined and supported\nwith evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n
The victim\u2019s family\u2019s lawyer, Zaenal Abidin \u2018Petir\u2019, highlighted\nBasuki\u2019s reported refusal to hand over the victim\u2019s laptop. The victim\u2019s\nelder sister, Vian (36), said she first learned of her sister\u2019s death on\nTuesday (18\/11) from the campus where her sister taught. She described\nher sister as a reserved person, so even though she knew the victim was\nno longer on the same Family Card (KK) as herself, she did not ask. She\nsaid she only learned that the late sister was no longer listed on the\nsame KK while processing their mother\u2019s death documents.<\/p>\n
Vian also noted that when her sister died, AKBP B had sent a photo to\nher mother\u2019s sister in Purwokerto.
