Feed prices may decrease<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Directorate General of Animal Husbandry, the
\nNational Logistics Agency (Bulog) and the Association of Animal
\nFeed Producers will hold a meeting here this week to discuss
\nmeasures to lower feed prices on the domestic market.<\/p>\n
\"The meeting is expected to reach agreement on lowering the
\nprice of animal feed to fair levels which can be accepted by
\nboth producers and consumers,\" Director General of Husbandry
\nSoehadji told reporters here on Saturday.<\/p>\n
He was quoted by Antara as saying that the government's recent
\ndecision to allow animal feed producers to import more soybean
\nmeal -- the main material for feed production -- would push down
\nthe prices of animal feed.<\/p>\n
Under the new policy, the government has allowed feed
\nproducers to import up to 80 percent, as compared with the
\nprevious 70 percent, of soybean meal used in production.<\/p>\n
Soehadji did not reveal the what would be on the agenda at
