        "content": "<p>BANDUNG \u2013 Indonesian President has instructed Bandung City Government\nand Husein Sastranegara Air Base management to reactivate Husein\nSastranegara Airport for commercial flights. Current flights at the\nairport are limited to propeller aircraft after some services were\nrelocated to Kertajati Airport.<\/p>\n<p>Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan revealed that President Prabowo\nSubianto visited Bandung on 25 May 2026 and instructed relevant\nauthorities to reactivate Husein Sastranegara Airport and Adisucipto\nAirport in Yogyakarta. He expressed enthusiasm for the airport\u2019s\nreactivation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are eagerly awaiting this reactivation, as Husein Airport has not\nbeen closed, but commercial flight operations have only been permitted\nfor scheduled propeller aircraft operating between cities on Java,\u201d\nFarhan said after Eid al-Adha prayers in Bandung on Wednesday, 27 May\n2026.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that President Prabowo Subianto has ordered the National\nDevelopment Planning Agency (Bappenas) and the Ministry of Defence\n(Kemenhan) to conduct studies on reactivating both airports. One study\nindicates that flight traffic in Bandung could rebound.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe aim to restore Husein Airport\u2019s former glory, which in 2019\nhandled 3.8 million passengers, including 3 million domestic and 800,000\ninternational flights,\u201d Farhan said.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the preparation for the airport\u2019s reactivation is\nentirely the responsibility of the central government. Bandung City\nGovernment, he added, will improve road infrastructure such as the toll\nexit leading to Husein Airport via PT DI to make passenger access\neasier.<\/p>\n<p>He assured that traffic flow in and out of Husein Sastranegara\nAirport would improve, with the Nurtanio flyover further facilitating\naccess to the airport.<\/p>",
