        "content": "<p>Fans protest over radio's closure<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: A community group comprising Jakarta News FM<br>\nlisteners has urged the House of Representatives, the government<br>\nand the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) to intervene and<br>\nfind a solution to the internal conflict at the privately owned<br>\nradio station.<\/p>\n<p>\"We have lost one of our sources of information after the<br>\nradio station stopped operating on May 15, 2005,\" group member<br>\nLintang explained during a news conference in Jakarta on<br>\nWednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The group, consisting of its former listeners, also demanded<br>\nthat all parties involved in the dispute, particularly the<br>\ncompany's shareholders and employees, immediately settle their<br>\ncase, either through legal action or in a more amicable way.<\/p>\n<p>The group said the conflict had also affected the employees of<br>\nthe radio station (97.5 Mhz), who were now in limbo.<\/p>\n<p>Retno Widarsi, a regular listener and an herbal medicine<br>\ntrader, said she lost one of her sources to get information that<br>\nshe used to depend on, as a result of the closure of the radio<br>\nstation.<\/p>\n<p>\"The radio does not only offer commercial programs, but also<br>\nprovides knowledge of democracy, freedom, fairness and clean<br>\ngovernance,\" she said.<\/p>\n<p>Lintang and Muslim cleric Nuril Arifin vowed that they would<br>\norganize a protest at the House, if the radio owners could not<br>\nfind a solution.<\/p>\n<p>The conflict among the shareholders forced the radio to stop<br>\nbroadcasting. --Antara<\/p>",
