Family planning<\/p>\n
I was amazed to read the headline in The Jakarta Post, on July
\n8, 1994 that Vatican accuses West of biological colonialism. In
\nterms of the development tendency of new biology, I totally agree
\nwith it.<\/p>\n
The anxiety raised by the church or any religious leaders
\nregarding the modern method of family planning is reasonable. To
\ncurb the population explosion, contraception alone is not enough.
\nAs a matter of fact, the lack of other reproductive health care
\nsystems, unacceptable side-effects on women's bodies and rude
\nstaff at clinics should all be taken into account.<\/p>\n
The phenomenon is made worse by the fact that, (as written in
\nthe text) \"At times these family planning methods have been
\nimposed through `blackmail' in allotting economic and financial
\naid to the developing countries.\"<\/p>\n
Do babies pollute our world? Every sane human being should
\nagree with the phrase \"the gift of life is the God's greatest
\ngift.\"<\/p>\n
Anyhow, when talking about world population we tend to refer
\nto population problems in the developing countries. It seems the
\ndeveloping countries which are situated mainly in the Southern
\nHemisphere are the source of the world's population problem.
\nTherefore, the West has taken the role of \"messiah\" in offering
\ntheir technologies to the addicts of technology.<\/p>\n
However, the term population explosion is merely a mask which
\nis designed to encourage the use of contraceptives in particular
\ncountries in Asia and Africa. I assume, it is the multinational
\npharmaceutical companies that will gain the profits from trading
\ncontraceptive devices around the world.<\/p>\n
In accordance to the UN International Conference on Population
\nand Development, which will be held in Cairo in September, the
\npopulation problem should be evaluated from a clear and plain
\nperspective.<\/p>\n
