Faldo, Langer, Singh to star in Dunhill Masters<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): England's world number five Nick Faldo, Asia-
\nPacific's star Vijay Singh and Bernard Langer of Germany are
\namong the golfers confirmed for the Alfred Dunhill Masters
\nscheduled for Nov. 2 - 5 near Bogor.<\/p>\n
Singh, whose world ranking is number 13 behind world number
\none Greg Norman of Australia, was ninth among the money winners
\non the U.S. PGA Tour with US$910,713. Singh is tipped to win the
\n$400,000 Alfred Dunhill Masters at the Emeralda Golf and Country
\nClub, 15 kms from Bogor.<\/p>\n
The Masters was staged for the first time in Bali last year,
\nwhen Faldo was disqualified for breaking local rules. The event
\nis rapidly establishing itself as one of the most important on
\nthe Asian golf calender. It is attracting not only the very best
\nof the Asian and Australasian PGA Tours but also some of the
\nworld's leading international players.<\/p>\n
Aside from the three finest golfers in the world, a young hope
\nfrom the world down under, Michael Campbell of New Zealand, will
\nalso see action.<\/p>\n
Campbell burst onto the professional golf scene when he was
\nnamed the 1993 Rookie of the Year. Success followed success for
\nthe 26-year-old Kiwi, winner of the 1994 St. Louis Open and then
\nback-to-back victories on the European PGA Challenge Tour. He has
\nalready had six top-10 finishes this season, including a tie for
\nthird at the British Open at St. Andrew last July and second
\nplace at the British Masters.<\/p>\n
Campbell was beaten by the runaway champion Sam Torance with a
\nlast-green birdie four.<\/p>\n
In addition to the Alfred Dunhill Masters, the company's
\nsponsorship portfolio includes the annual Dunhill Cup, which is
\nbeing played at St. Andrew next week.<\/p>\n
Dukuh Golf<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, at the now defunct Kemayoran airport, a new golf
\ncourse, which will include a driving range and a sports center,
\nis being developed on 455 hectares of prime land in the center of
\nthe capital. The agreement was signed last Saturday.<\/p>\n
PT Megacity Development Corporation (MDC), the developer of
\nDukuh Golf Jakarta, has appointed SAE\/Waskita Karya, a joint
\noperation, to build 2,072 apartments of the scheduled 9,000 units
\nat a cost of Rp 450 billion (US$200 million).<\/p>\n
Dukuh Golf will be built on 46.5 hectares, 24 hectares will be
\nused for apartments and the rest will be for the golf course,
\nclub house, driving range and other sports facilities.<\/p>\n
MDC is a consortium of Gajah Tunggal, Napan and Amcol, which
\nbeen appointed to develop the former Kemayoran airport. The
\ngovernment has decided to change the airport into a new
