Fake banknote<\/p>\n

On May 7, 2000 I withdrew money from Bank Internasional
\nIndonesia's (BII) ATM in Kelapa Gading Mall amounting to Rp 1
\nmillion. When I used it to pay for something, one banknote was
\ndeclared fake after it was passed through an ultra violet light.<\/p>\n
On May 8, I reported the matter at BII Imperium and was told
\nthat my complaint should be accompanied by a document of money
\nwithdrawal. On May 10, I gave the fake banknote, together with
\nthe withdrawal slip to them. They maintained that they would
\nreimburse me and would transfer the money to my bank account on
\nMay 12.<\/p>\n
On May 16, I checked my balance and was surprised to find that
\nno money was transferred. Upon my questioning, the bank said that
\nthe money could not be reimbursed because the money in the ATM
\nhad undergone a special examination and it bore a special mark
\nbeyond customers' knowledge.<\/p>\n
I have been a BII customer for 10 years and am amazed at the
\ntreatment I have received. I wonder if the Indonesian Consumers
\nFoundation knows whether there is any protection for such a case.<\/p>\n
