Failure of traffic law<\/p>\n

I agree with legislator Muhammad Buang who said that the
\nsubstance of 1992 Traffic Law No. 14 is good (Sinar Pagi of Sept.
\n22). The problem lies in its inconsistent enforcement because
\ncertain members of the City Land Transportation Agency and
\ntraffic violators have sealed their business in briberies. Even
\nwhen a traffic violation case is brought to court, middlemen at
\nthe court offer their mediatory services. So, drivers tend to
\nignore traffic violations.<\/p>\n
As a public transport driver I think there are four reasons
\nwhy road accidents are rampant.<\/p>\n
First, the compulsory daily amount of money drivers have to
\npay to vehicle owners is burdensome. Second, there are too many
\npublic transport vehicles on given routes. There is no limit to
\nthe issuance of permits to public transport operators, resulting
\nin competition among drivers on the road. Third, operators never
\nbother to teach drivers about road courtesy. Fourth, the high
\ncost of living.<\/p>\n
The government and related agencies should find a way out.<\/p>\n
