The Padang city government has distributed aid to residents still\naffected by the floods and extreme weather that occurred on 3 August\n2026. The aid was symbolically handed over by Padang Mayor Fadly Amran\nat Lapau Munggu, Kuranji Sub-district, Kuranji District, on Sunday, 9\nAugust 2026.<\/p>\n
The assistance was provided to 270 affected homes spread across four\ndistricts. In detail, 191 homes are located in Kuranji District, 45 in\nNanggalo, 24 in Koto Tangah, and 10 in North Padang.<\/p>\n
Each household received Rp 2 million in assistance, bringing the\ntotal aid distributed to Rp 540 million. The funds are sourced from the\nPadang city budget and are intended to help residents meet their needs\nduring the post-flood recovery process.<\/p>\n
Fadly said the assistance represents the government\u2019s attention to\nresidents still affected by the disaster. The aid is expected to help\nresidents accelerate their recovery after flooding hit several areas of\nPadang.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday we are handing over assistance to 270 homes still affected by\nthe disaster in four districts. The data may still grow. Therefore,\nresidents who have not yet been recorded are asked to coordinate\nimmediately with their local village and district heads,\u201d Fadly\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Based on local government data collection, the floods on 3 August\n2026 affected 6,618 homes. By 5 August 2026, 6,348 homes had recovered,\nwhile 270 homes remained affected with light damage levels of under 20\nper cent.<\/p>\n
In addition to cash assistance, residents also received various\nsupporting aid for daily needs. Cleaning equipment assistance from\nIndonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming includes brooms, mops,\nrubbish bags, rubber mops, floor brushes, Wipol, and soap.<\/p>\n
Other assistance in the form of basic food packages was also\ndistributed to support the needs of affected residents. The aid includes\nrice, sugar, bread, and several other necessities, as well as hygiene\nkits, blankets, baby food, folding mattresses, and cleaning\nequipment.<\/p>\n
The aid handover was attended by Padang Regional Secretary Raju\nMinropa, Assistant for Government and People\u2019s Welfare Tarmizi Ismail,\nBPBD Chief Executive Hendri Zulviton, district heads from the four\ndistricts, and aid recipient residents.<\/p>\n
Fadly expressed appreciation for the central government\u2019s support in\nhandling the disaster\u2019s impact in Padang. The support is considered\nhelpful for the local government in meeting residents\u2019 needs while\nstrengthening the post-disaster recovery process.<\/p>\n

The Padang city government will continue to collect data and monitor\nthe condition of affected residents.
