In a critical time, he dared to maintain his stance and\nhis conviction did not waver, even at the cost of his life. His name is\nspecial not only as a scientist, but also for his moral choice to perish\nin order to protect his colleagues,\u201d the Culture Minister said in\nJakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Fadli Zon, the nation\u2019s history does not only record\nstruggles in the fields of politics, diplomacy, or physical combat, but\nalso in science, including medical science. Achmad Mochtar is one of the\nimportant figures in medical science who made an extraordinary\nsacrifice, according to the minister.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was a doctor and the Head of the Eijkman Institute during the\nJapanese occupation and sacrificed himself to protect his colleagues.
